Vernon Adams was the most proficient college quarterback in FBS in 2015, putting up the 10th most proficient season in the history of FBS / D1 football. He is one of only 9 quarterbacks in the past decade (including Cam Newton, Russell Wilson, & Robert Griffin III) to exceed 10 yards per passing attempt in a single season (accomplishing this twice in his career). Adams’ 10.2 ypa in 2015 was the best overall FBS number for the past 2 seasons. He finished his 2015 Oregon career with 10.7 ypa in conference play, which was the best FBS mark in 5 seasons.
Adams put up historic numbers at the East-West Shrine Game in January of 2016, completing 6 of 9 passes for 191 yards and three touchdowns, in addition to two rushes for 24 yards. In a highlight of the game, he connected perfectly on a 93-yard touchdown pass, shattering the record for the longest touchdown pass in the Shrine Game’s 91-year history. He finished with a 149.3 rating, with the next-highest rating of the other five Shrine Game quarterbacks being 80.9. His record- breaking and versatile Shrine Game performance earned Adams the title of Offensive MVP.
Prior to attending Oregon, Adams’ standout 2014 season at Eastern Washington earned him several awards, including the title of Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Year, First-Team All-Big Sky Conference, and First-Team All-American by the Associated Press. Against the University of Washington, Adams completed 31 of 46 passes for 475 yards and 7 touchdowns— setting the record for the most touchdowns that the Huskies had allowed against an opposing quarterback at home in its lengthy history. Adams’ 2013 EWU season was filled with even more impressive statistics, including 59 total touchdowns, 5,599 total yards, and a parade of individual awards.
Vernon has been a dominant winner at every level of competition. Adams played at Bishop Alemany High School in Mission Hills, CA where he earned the title of Serra League MVP for leading the Warriors to the league title. In his final two seasons, he lead Alemany to a 22-5 overall record, passing for 5,234 yards and 49 TDs and rushing for 1,263 yards and 19 TDs.
Vernon has a young son, Vernon Kash Adams III, who means the world to him.
